Nomination Process for 2023 for all Out of School Sports

Nominations for summer sports (cricket, volleyball and basketball) are now open via the Kelly Sports website www.kellysports.com.au and we urge you to log in now to complete nominations before cut off. Kelly sports will be selecting teams for these sports. Simply scroll down to the “search by school” box and enter Paringa Park.  

Please be aware that some sports start very early in term 1 and may have a cut-off date for registrations.

Sports Information

Basketball

Basketball is for Reception to Year 6 aged students

Games are played Mon-Fri afternoons, day will depend on the year level.  Times of games ranges from 3:45pm until 6:30pm. Games go for 30mins. There will be 2 x 14 minute halves. Shots for Team Fouls will be awarded on the 5th foul of a half. Each team will be allowed one Time Out per half. The uniform is Navy shorts and a playing singlet is provided. Fees are $75. Players don’t need to have any level of experience to play. Each team will be assigned a coach who will set 1 training time per week which is likely to be onsite at Paringa Park in the Gym in a morning before school or after school.

Pasadena Basketball Stadium: Daws Rd, Pasadena, on the grounds of Pasadena High School

Cricket

Cricket is for Year 1 to Year 6 aged students

A GRADE (Yr 5/6)

Fees for A Grade are $55. Games are played Saturday mornings from 8:30-11:30 at the Bowker Street Oval. Cricket experience is needed for A grade. Teams will practice based on the availability of the coach.

B GRADE (Yr 4/5)

Fees for B Grade are $55. Games are played Thursday afternoon from 4:30-6:30pm at the PPPS Oval and local schools in the area. Cricket experience is helpful for B grade. Teams will practice based on the availability of the coach.

MASTER BLASTER YR3 (formerly Kanga Cricket)

Fees for Master Blaster Yr 3 are $45. Games are played Saturday mornings at the Marion Sports Club Oval, Sturt Road Marion from 9:45-11am

MASTER BLASTER YR2 (formerly Kanga Cricket)

Fees for Master Blaster Yr 2 are $45. Games are played Saturday mornings at the Marion Sports Club Oval, Sturt Road Marion from 8:30- 9:45am

No Cricket for Reception students. Year 1 kids can nominate and if room they can play in a Yr 2 Master Blaster team.

Cricket is played Term 1 and Term 4. All equipment (bats, pads, balls, helmets etc) are provided by the school.

Netball

Netball is for Year 3 to Year 6 aged students

Netball is available for years 3-6 students in the winter season, terms 2 and 3. The games are played at 4.00pm on Wednesdays for students in years 5 and 6 and Thursdays for students in years 3 and 4. The season includes home games being played on the Paringa Park netball court, along with away games at other local schools that are included in the competition. The fee is $60and the uniform is the student’s own school polo top and shorts/skorts. Players are expected to commit to weekly games, weekly practice sessions in which the day and time will be determined by the coach/manager, and communicate attendance with the coach/manager. This netball competition is available to all levels of experience in playing netball.

Soccer

To be eligible to play in a school soccer team a students must at the start of the season/born before 1st May 2016 to play in U7. They cannot turn 7 mid season. Soccer caters for students up to Year 6.

Fees for soccer at PPPS will be $75 for the season.  No prior experience or knowledge is required – the children will learn as they train and play.  Registrations will close Friday of Week 6 in Term 1.  All matches are played on Saturday mornings between 8am – 12 pm.  Home games will be played at PPPS and away games will be played at other school grounds in the south-west district.  PPPS will provide one jersey per player and this will need to be returned at the end of the season.  Other uniform requirements not supplied are navy shorts, socks, boots, and shin guards.

Football

Football is for Year 1 (completed a Year of Auskick) to Year 6

Competition is run by the SANFL and fees are set by the SANFL with a small fee to the school ($35). Games are played Saturday mornings from 8am at Seaview High School’s ovals. Players are supplied a team jumper. Parents are required to supply navy shorts and green and yellow footy socks and a mouth guard. Teams will have a training session depending on the coaches availability at PPPS Oval after school on a nominated day after school.

This year there will be the option to field a girls teams if nominations enable us to. However, teams can be mixed and girls are very much encouraged to register and play. It is highly recommended that younger students have done a season of Auskick to give them a good sense of the basics.

Volleyball

Volleyball is for Year 4 to Year 6 aged students

Volleyball competitions are run by Volleyball SA for years 4-6. Games are on Fridays at Brighton Secondary School, with start times are between 4:00 and 6:00pm. There are three separate seasons: Term 1 ($65), Term2/3 ($115), and Term 4 ($65). Players will most likely be divided into year 4/5 teams and straight year 6 teams, and may be all girls/boys or mixed, depending on numbers. 4/5 teams play 4-a-side on outdoor sand courts in Terms 1 & 4 and indoors in Terms 2/3. Year 6 teams play 6-a-side indoors all year. Trainings will be determined by each team’s coach/manager. Uniform is a school top with navy bottom of choice. Students have a lot of fun, and you don’t need to know how to play, we can help with that! Games for Term 1 are Feb 25-April 8. Nominations for TERM 1 only close Feb 15. Note that, due to Covid-19 and the late start to the school year, this term’s game fixture is expected to have multiple changes so please be flexible.
